Signing

Ashley Lamoureaux, a four-time member of the Times all-county golf team, has been given a full academic/athletic scholarship to Miami.

Lamoureaux qualified for the state tournament all four years. She averaged 36.8 for nine holes last season, including a district win with a 3-over 75 at Westchase. She carries a 4.50 grade point average at Clearwater Central Catholic where she is president of the National Honor Society.

At Miami, Lamoueaux hopes to begin as a second semester freshman studying in a pre-med program.

At CCC, she played for her father, Joe Lamoureux, coach of the Marauders.

Shorecrest cross-country runner Desilyn McKeage has signed a letter of intent with West Florida. McKeage was on the Chargers' cross-country, basketball and track teams.

Softball

A team of 11- and 12-year-olds from the Miss Pinellas Park program recently won the 32-team Miss Florida Midseason Tournament in Sarasota. The Computerized Payroll Management team defeated teams from Sarasota, Winter Haven and Venice in going 6-0 during the tournament, including a 6-4 win in the championship game.

The Florida Spirit 50's 55-and-older team based in Clearwater recently earned first place in the April's Finest women's tournament in Charleston, S.C. The organization's 50-and-older team finished second in its age group.

The Freedom Spirit over-65 team finished first in its division in the April's Finest women's tournament in Charleston, S.C. The team was led offensively by third baseman Ruth Fellmeth, who hit .750. Other top hitters included Helen Boyd and Del Bowyer. Pitchers were Jeannette Brown and Esther Kelly.

Martial arts

Kirk Hoffman of St. Petersburg recently won a bronze medal in the open division at the national judo championships in Cleveland. Hoffman, 18, who trains at the St. Petersburg Judo Club, was the youngest competitor in the open division.

Baseball

The Palm Harbor American team recently won the District 12 midseason Little League tournament. Palm Harbor scored 65 runs and gave up seven during the three-day tournament, led by pitchers Ryan Gaston, Zachery Sobel and Jamison Sweat.

Football

Five Admiral Farragut players were named to the Florida Independent Football League All-Conference team recently. Jonathan Hirsch, Andres Kirchman, Grant Watkins, Jon Whitehead and Tre Ripma were named to the team.

The FIFL is a group of teams from throughout Florida. AFA was not independent last season, but still participates in the conference.

Soccer

The Clearwater Chargers won four titles in the recent Eckerd College six-on-six tournament. The organization won the girls under-10, under-11 and under-16 crowns and the boys under-8 championship.

Other division winners were: Hillsborough United (girls under-12); Eckerd College (women's open, men's premier); Largo Wolves (boys under-9 and under-18); Red Gorillas (boys under-10); Oldsmar Outlaws (boys under-11); Manatee Magic (boys under-12); Seminole Gray (boys under-13); St. Pete Raiders (boys 14-15); LRHS (boys 16-17); Eckerd Alums (men's open); and Ybor (men's over-35).
