TAMPA -- With graduation approaching, a group of county high school coaches have combined their organizational skills to stage the first Senior All-Star Softball Game.
"It looks like the inaugural game is ready to roll," Berkeley Prep coach Sallie Scudder said. "I want to thank everyone for rallying around and helping to get everything put together. We would love to have as many high school coaches present and involved as possible."
The game will be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Plant City Stadium.
Larry Rodriguez, first-year coach at Academy of the Holy Names, will coach the West All-Stars and veteran Tammy Overcash of Sickles will be the assistant.
"We weren't able to get all the seniors because of other activities, but this is the first year and I know my girls are really excited," Rodriguez said. "They are looking forward to meeting and playing with some of the players they have only heard of and read about."
Plant City's Traci Durrance will coach the East and Tampa Bay Tech's Keensha Parham will assist.
