TAMPA -- Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision that shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 near the junction of Interstate 75.

The crash, which demolished both vehicles, occurred about 2:30 p.m. With debris strewn across eastbound I-4, Florida Highway Patrol troopers rerouted travelers for several hours.

No information on the victims or the cause of the accident was available Sunday.
