A pageant to benefit the "Style Kitten" will feature an array of entertainers.

LUTZ -- Last year's Lady Lutz Pageant featured a human singer whose leading lyric was "meow" and a pageant winner who drew an artistic cat during a single playing of Tom Jones' "What's New Pussycat?"

This year, the feline influence will reappear in the pageant's second installment. The proceeds benefit "Style Kitten" Brett Montegny's campaign for Lutz guv'na, a fund-raising tradition that supports community causes.

If past is prologue, the Sunday afternoon event will be the most flamboyant of this year's guv'na race. It's planned for 2-5 p.m. at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, off Nebraska Avenue.

The pageant is a competition among free spirits and pent-up entertainers. It rewards talent and "inner beauty." Montegny, owner of the Classy Consignment clothing store, said this year's contestants include a belly dancer, an improvisational dancer, a singer, an actor, a "surprise contestant" and perhaps, a clarinet player.

It also will feature live rockabilly music from the Urbane Cowboys, a silent auction, a buffet lunch and a cash bar.

Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance. They're available from Classy Consignment, in Sunset Plaza at U.S. 41 and Sunset Lane. For information, call 949-4076, or go to www.ladylutz.com.
