New elementary school will get familiar name
LAND O'LAKES -- The new elementary school under construction across the street from Pine View Middle School will have a familiar name: Pine View Elementary School. School Board members opted for simplicity in choosing a name already used by a nearby secondary school. With more than 55 schools and more being built each year, it's hard enough to remember where all of them are without adding new or obscure names to the list, said board member Pam Coulter. The board had received suggestions from schoolchildren (Friends Elementary and America Elementary, to name a few) and from local history buffs. One suggested the school be named after a rural post office that once stood near the property, called Pleasant Pines.
