WHEN: Sunday, 7:30 a.m.
WHERE: Fort Island Gulf Beach (9 miles west of Crystal River on Fort Island Trail).
COST: $35 pre-registered, $40 race day.
WEATHER FORECAST: Party cloudy, high of 89.
COURSE: 1/4-mile swim, 15-mile bike ride, 3-mile run.
ODDS AND ENDS: This is the first of three triathlons (the others are July 4 and Sept. 1) in the series, which is in its eighth year. It is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event. The swimming portion is in the Gulf of Mexico. The biking and running are on Fort Island Trail, a flat, winding road. The course is thought to be conducive to fast times. There are various age groups and divisions.
