HOLDER -- A motorcyclist was flown to Tampa General Hospital after a collision with a Toyota truck near the intersection of County Road 491 and U.S. 41 at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The 24-year-old motorcyclist's name was withheld by authorities. Citrus County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Junker said the cyclist was stopped at the intersection of Smith Terrace and CR 491 when, witnesses said, the bike suddenly lurched forward with one wheel in the air. The motorcyclist was struck by Joseph Brantley, 32, of Dunnellon, who was driving east on CR 491.
"I was watching him and the next thing you know he just shot out right in front of me," said Brantley, who was on his way home from work at the time of the crash. The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
