Note: Shelters have been re-evaluated. Please review the list carefully as
shelters used in previous years are no longer on the list. All shelters previously used in Pasco County have been re-surveyed, according to modified hurricane shelter selection standards from the American Red Cross and the state of Florida. Based on those survey results, only the listed shelters have been approved for use, as is, for the 2002 hurricane season. Pasco County is working in coordination with the state to identify funds to retrofit 12 school facilities for an additional 19,676 spaces during the next two years. Pasco County is also working with the School Board to create enhanced hurricane protected areas in schools under construction. We will also be continuing to survey other facilities to find additional capacity.
