Air Force Airman Noah H. Hilliard has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During his six weeks of training, he studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Leona Hilliard, Charleston, S.C., and the grandson of Marilyn Hilliard, Thonotosassa. Hilliard is a 2000 graduate of Garrett Academy of Technology, Charleston.

Army Staff Sgt. James A. Cary has arrived at Eskan Village, Saudi Arabia, to serve as a member of Joint Task Force-Southwest Asia in support of Operation Southern Watch. The operation is a multinational effort that conducts flying missions to ensure and enforce Iraq's compliance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions enacted after the end of the Persian Gulf War in 1991. The U.S. contingency and coalition forces assist in monitoring the no-fly and no-drive zones to prohibit Iraqi military flights and ground troop movements in the southern half of Iraq. Cary is a communications chief normally assigned to Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. He is the son of Henry W. Cary, Wetumpka, Ala. In 1980, Cary graduated from Wetumpka High School.
