Two teams of Pasco County students finished in the middle of the pack at a worldwide academic competition in Colorado last week.
One team, coached by Sand Pine Elementary School assistant principal Lynn Pabst, spent months building a small battery-powered car that changes shape as it travels.
Their production included a skit and an original song. The team finished 20th out of 45 teams.
The other team, coached by teacher Sue Foster of Deer Park Elementary, built small balsa wood towers that held hundreds of pounds of weight, but not enough to place the squad higher than 21st out of 44 teams.
Both teams represented Land O'Lakes High School.
