Tampa Bay Interstates, a program of the State of Florida Department of Transportation, provides a Web site that includes updates on construction activity and lane closures on local interstates. The user-friendly site also provides links to transportation sites nationwide, sign-up for e-mail updates, feedback surveys on the interstate projects and photos of planned construction projects. New voting machines available for try-out
Be prepared for the next election. The new touch-screen voting machines are now available to try out. Drop in for a demonstration from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the St. Petersburg Supervisor of Elections office, 501 First Ave. N, or visit the county's website at www.pinellascounty.org. Click on PinellasTV18 and then on Touch Screen Voting. Call 464-3551 for information.
Put your Action Center requests online at site
The services of the city of St. Petersburg's Action Center are now available online at www.stpete.org. By visiting Action Online residents can request a service, file a complaint or voice an opinion on current issues.
Alphabetized services from alley triming and abandoned vehicles to traffic signals or water bill questions can be addressed. After entering the essential information the system provides a request number and progress on the issue can be tracked. Once a request for service is received the public service representative assigned to the area will respond.
Seniors get paid while training for jobs
The AARP Senior Community Service Employment Program helps low-income people ages 55 and older find employment. The program provides training and pays minimum wage while being trained. There is no charge for the service. Call 943-7370.893-7111.
