STUDENT MUSICIAN: Shannon Lowe, a Crystal River High School 2000 graduate, has been accepted to the Sarasota Music Festival in Sarasota, which plays host to student musicians who win their spots by audition. For more than three weeks in June, festival participants will be engaged in intense chamber music studies, rehearsals, master classes and performances. They will be coached by top professional players of their instruments.

Shannon is a junior at the University of Florida, majoring in music education and performance on the bassoon. She is principal bassoonist for the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra and one of the founding members of Quintessential, a UF student performing woodwind quintet.

Shannon is an active sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity for female musicians, and is a member of the College Music Educators National Conference.

SRCS STUDENTS OF THE MONTH: Seven Rivers Christian School announces its Students of the Month for May: Elizabeth Finney, seventh grade; and Karli Esckelson, ninth grade. The students, chosen by the middle and high school faculty, are those who display God-honoring behavior in school activities, are supportive of and gracious to fellow students, lead by example, are committed to academic studies and strive to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, Bible study and chapel worship.
