Kings Bay patrol raises concernsBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published May 31, 2002 CRYSTAL RIVER -- Concerned with safety issues on Kings Bay, the City Council on Wednesday called for a meeting with agencies that patrol the water. "We want to know when it's going to be patrolled, when and by who," council member John Kendall said. The council asked police Chief Jim Farley to coordinate with the Coast Guard, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the county, all of which have some jurisdiction over area waters. The action stems from a town hall meeting, where concerns were raised about an increase in reckless boating. "There is an accident waiting to happen out there." Kendall said. "If there are deficiencies in (patrolling), we have to see what is done." © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
