INVERNESS -- The Citrus County Department of Parks and Recreation offers the following classes. Registration is necessary. Classes are held in the auditorium, 3610 S U.S. 41, Inverness, unless otherwise noted. For information or to register, call 795-6520 or register at the park administration office.

Any person requiring reasonable accommodation at a program because of a disability or physical impairment should contact the Citrus County Parks and Recreation office 72 hours prior to the activity. If you are hearing impaired, use the TDD telephone 527-7677.

Due to various activities being held in the Citrus County Auditorium during March, the following classes will be canceled or relocated to another site: aerobics, walking, clogging, line dancing, tae kwon do.

To obtain specific dates and times of class locations, call the Parks and Recreation office at 527-7677.

American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program: Three two-week daytime sessions beginning at 10, 10:45 or 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday reserved for make-up classes. Two evening four-week sessions from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; make-up classes reserved for fifth week. Classes held at Bicentennial Park Pool. Levels: one through five and IPAP classes for infants and toddlers. Registration: from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at Bicentennial Park Pool, 795-1478. Cost: levels one to five, $25; for IPAP classes, $20.

Bicentennial Park Pool Pre-season Schedule: From April 8-28:

Water Wellness: From noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Rec Swim Team: From 9-11 a.m. Saturday; from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

Open Swim: From 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Lap Swim: From 6 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" Oil Painting Workshop: One day workshop, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 at the Beverly Hills Community Building, 1 Civic Circle. Instructor: George Loring, award winning artist and certified Bob Ross Instructor. Students need to bring their lunch and should arrive 30 minutes before class. Obtain supply list when registering. Fee: $35.

Clogging for Beginner and Intermediate Classes: For beginners from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays beginning Aug. 20; for intermediate 8:15 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays beginning Aug. 6. Instructor: Sonya Allen. Fee: $3 per class. Registration will be taken at the first class.

Creative Memory Classes: Four-week session from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, begins Wednesday in the Lecanto Community Building, 1290 S Lecanto Highway (County Road 491). Instructor: Sherrie Geick. Bring several pictures separated by theme. Instructor will provide supplies to complete first page. Fee: $30.

Indoor Walking Program: For adults at the Citrus County Auditorium. This is a great opportunity to walk in an air-conditioned facility and stay fit. The auditorium will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is free of charge. A minimum of six people is required to continue the program. Citrus County Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel any class due to rental of the auditorium.

KIDZART: Three-week session for children 8-11 years old from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays beginning April 13 at the Lecanto Community Building, 1290 S Lecanto Highway (County Road 491). Instructor: Anita Dallar. Supplies provided. Fee: $25.

KIDZART: Three-week session for children 12-16 years old from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturdays beginning April 13 at the Lecanto Community Building, 1290 S Lecanto Highway (County Road 491). Instructor: Anita Dallar. Supplies provided. Fee: $25.

Ladies' Stretching Classes: Class meets from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, ongoing basis, at the Beverly Hills Community Building, 1 Civic Circle. Bring an exercise mat to class. Instructor: Sarah Nocchi. Fee: $1 per class.

Learn to Play an Instrument for Children 6-12: Four-week sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturdays beginning April 20 at the Lecanto Community Building, call for directions. Instructor: Blair Moore, graduate of Florida State University with a degree in music education. Bring the instrument of your choice. Fee: $40.

Learn to Play an Instrument for Children 13-16: Four-week sessions from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturdays beginning April 20 at the Lecanto Community Building, call for directions. Instructor: Blair Moore, graduate of Florida State University with a degree in music education. Bring the instrument of your choice. Fee: $40.

Learn to Play an Instrument for Adults: Four-week sessions from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays beginning April 22 at the Lecanto Community Building, call for directions. Instructor: Blair Moore, graduate of Florida State University with a degree in music education. Bring the instrument of your choice. Fee: $40.

Line Dancing Classes: Ongoing classes; beginners from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., advanced from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost: $3 per person, per class. March classes will be held at East Citrus Community Center, 9907 E Gulf to Lake Highway, Inverness. Classes will resume at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Auditorium.

Low Impact Aerobic Classes: March classes at 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the E Citrus Community Center, 9907 E Gulf to Lake Highway, Inverness for adults of all fitness levels. Students progress at their own pace in air conditioned comfort and should wear appropriate shoes, clothing and bring an exercise mat. Fee: $3 per class.

Pine Needle Classes: Six week session, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the Lecanto Community Building, 1290 S Lecanto Highway, CR 491. Instructor: Ernest Beardsley will teach students how to make useful items such as bowls, containers, baskets, etc. out of pine needles. Obtain supply list when registering. Fee: $40.

Saltwater Fishing Workshop: Three-hour workshop begins at 2 p.m. April 10 at Homosassa Lions Club, 3705 S Indiana Ter. Learn the basics and secrets of salt water fishing. Instructor: Capt. Mike Locklear has more than 20 years of local fishing experience and is licensed by the Coast Guard. Class size limited to 50 students. Call to sign up, 527-7677, registration from 1-2 p.m. day of class. Fee: $25.

Tae Kwon Do: Classes offered for ages 6 and older, first class is free. Learn self-control, confidence, self-defense, discipline and respect. Instructors: Masters Jay and Susan Helfman are both Kukkiwon certified. The classes meet once a week at the following locations:

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Citrus County Auditorium, 1310 S Florida Ave., Inverness (March classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Inverness Middle School, 1000 Middle School Drive. Classes resume Tuesday at the Auditorium.)

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Homosassa Riverside Resort, 5297 S Cherokee Way.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Citrus Springs Middle School, 150 W Citrus Springs Blvd.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Citrus County Auditorium, 3610 S Florida Ave., Inverness.

From 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Beverly Hills Community Building, 1 Civic Circle.

Cost: $10 the first month, $20 each additional month.

Tennis Lessons for Children 6-16: Four-week session; group lessons for children ages 6 to 9 from 8 to 9 a.m.; ages 10 to 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. and ages 13 to 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Lecanto Community Park. Instructor: Medhi Tahiri, certified trainer. Fee: $35.

Tennis Lessons for Adults: On-going, call to reserve time slot for one-on-one sessions from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Floral Park; Wednesdays, Lecanto Community Park; Thursdays, Bicentennial Park; Fridays, Homosassa Springs Area Recreation Park. Instructor: Medhi Tahiri, certified trainer. Fee: $25 per hour, $15 per half hour.

Water Aerobics: From 5:15 to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from April 8 to Aug. 2 at Bicentennial Park Pool. Instructor: Nancy Todd certified by the Aquatic Exercise Association. For information, call the pool office at 795-6520. Fee: $2 per class.

Woodcarving Classes: Five-week session from 1 to 4 p.m. beginning April 9 at Homosassa Lions Club, 3705 S Indiana Ter. Instructor: Nick Di Mona, opens the class to beginning and experienced carvers. The subject will be a Woodduck Drake. Fee: $25.
