DUNEDIN -- Few teams were as feeble on offense last season as Palm Harbor U. and Dunedin.
The Falcons might be ready to change that. The Hurricanes, well, they're happy it's only May.
Dunedin was much improved Thursday night at home, downing PHU 34-0 in three quarters of varsity play. Aaron Ford was the catalyst for the Falcons, taking over at quarterback in a 27-point second quarter.
The rising senior rushed seven times for 82 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown. He also threw a 30-yard touchdown pass and, on defense in the third quarter, returned an interception 25 yards for another score.
"Somehow I've got to find a breather for him somewhere, because right now he doesn't come off the field," Dunedin coach Mark Everett said. "He makes things happen."
Dunedin benefitted from great field position, as Palm Harbor turned the ball over five times. An interception by Brandon Glenn and a fumble recovery by Ronnie Hadley allowed the Falcons to start inside the 20 in the big second quarter.
PHU had 60 yards of total offense.
"We made a lot of correctable mistakes," PHU coach Mike June said. "You've got time, that's the biggest thing of all."
