Chaise Dunn, 10, above right, faces off with the skull of a carnivore while classmate Jordan Mast, 10, examines the specimen at the Energy and Marine Center in Port Richey. The students from Zephyrhills Elementary School were on a field trip to the center, located on a coastal hammock in the Salt Springs Estuary in Pasco County. The center, part of the Pasco school district, offers programs for Pasco students on such topics as marine and mangrove ecology and the natural history of the coast. Below, Zephyrhills students Brittany Selbert, 9, and Amber Yeomans, 10, carry their net to deeper water. Their class spent the day collecting fish and other marine creatures and learning about swamp wildlife.
