Teens report attack by throng
By JAMIE JONES, Times Staff Writer SPRING HILL -- Six teenagers trying to attend a party on Elwood Road this weekend were swarmed by a group of 40 teenagers who hit one teen in the head with a baseball bat and threw sticks and beer bottles at their car, authorities said. No arrests had been made Monday. Authorities said they received a call at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday after a teenage girl was hit by the truck at 4187 Elwood Road. She told deputies that she had been walking down the drive when a dark truck hit her. She was treated by paramedics at the scene and released, authorities said. A 19-year-old man told deputies he arrived at the party with five friends and a group of teens swarmed the car. He said he thought they were students from Springstead High School. He said one person hit him in the face with a baseball bat. He refused medical treatment at the scene, according to incident reports. He said the teens told him to leave and started smashing his friend's truck with bats and bottles, destroying the windows. He said someone blocked them in but they finally were able to escape. Authorities said because most teens fled the area when deputies arrived, and because it was dark, they did not know who attacked the group or ran over the girl.
