The Botanical Gardens at the University of South Florida this weekend is showing off the newly renovated butterfly gardens and the Greathouse Butterfly House, where visitors can walk among hundreds of winged critters.

The fair will include a sale of plants that attract butterflies, plus herbs and other gardening items. Workshops are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

In the children's area, which is free, young visitors can make butterfly finger puppets, decorate clay pots or pet a caterpillar.

The fair is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the gardens, off Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, Tampa. Adult admission is $2; kids get in free. Everyone must pay $1 admission for the butterfly house. For information, call (813) 974-2329.
