Sireci, 50, who holds degrees from Nova University and the University of South Florida, has Florida policing experience.

Before moving to Memphis, he was a division commander at the city of Naples' Department of Public Safety.

Sireci will head a force of 64 law enforcement officers -- which must expand to 74 by November to accommodate security requirements -- 57 traffic specialists and 19 dispatchers and clerical personnel.
