TAMPA -- Authorities have identified Benjamin Cook Kellogg, 23, of Odessa as the man who died Friday at a popular north Tampa shooting range.

Kellogg, who lived on Crawley Road, died just before 8 p.m. from a gunshot wound to the head inside Shooting Sports at 7811 N Dale Mabry Highway.

The case is still under investigation, said Sgt. Alan Hill of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. However, the wound appeared to be self-inflicted, he said.

There were about 10 other people at the shooting range at the time. Witnesses told deputies Kellogg, who was in a shooting lane separated by plexiglass panels, fell over.

No one else was injured.
