ST. PETERSBURG -- Toby Hall lost his starting job and his spot in the big leagues. Now he's lost his bobblehead day.
The Rays announced Sunday they will give out Steve Cox bobbleheads on Sept. 8 rather than Hall dolls as planned.
"We didn't want to put any unnecessary pressure on the organization or on Toby," said John Browne, vice president of sales and marketing. "Steve is having a great year and this was an opportunity to do one for him."
Because the 5,000 Hall dolls have not been made, the Rays said it was easy to make the change. A giveaway of Jason Tyner bobbleheads was postponed indefinitely when Tyner was sent to the minors. Those dolls are sitting in a warehouse.
