Focus on volunteers

The Mental Health Association, 20505 U.S. 19 N, Suite 19, Clearwater, is seeking volunteers for the presentation "I'm Thumbody," a self-esteem program for children ages 4-6. The program uses the child's thumbprint to highlight differences and to show how each child is unique and special. Volunteers should exhibit a commitment to children, a respect for diversity and must have their own transportation. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of two hours each month. Neighborly Senior Services, 13650 Stoneybrook Drive, Clearwater, is looking for volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in Pinellas County. Volunteers will be working through the Meals on Wheels program. Schedules are flexible. For information, call Pat Hofstadter at (727) 573-9444, ext. 291.

Sunken Gardens, 1825 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg, is in need of additional volunteers to continue programs and to develop the educational and cultural facets of the gardens. Opportunities for volunteers include docents, garden assistants, educational school tour guides and animal care assistants. Training will be provided. Pinellas Association for Retarded Children, 3190 Tyrone Blvd. N, St. Petersburg, is in need of numerous volunteers for the organization's 23 programs. In addition, volunteers are needed for special events, sales assistance in the Resale Store and clerical duties.
