ST. PETERSBURG -- An 84-year-old man died Tuesday of injuries suffered in an automobile crash that also killed his wife.

Robert W. Martindale of St. Petersburg had been in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center for eight days before he died Tuesday.

His wife, Adeline C. Martindale, 81, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after noon on June 3.

Mr. Martindale was driving a 2000 Lincoln south on 34th Street S when he tried to turn left into a Denny's restaurant at 40th Avenue S. A northbound Chevrolet pickup truck hit the passenger side of the car. The pickup's driver was treated for minor injuries.
