    SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: The St. Petersburg Times is sponsoring a "Disco Inferno" concert featuring 1970s dance tunes at 7 p.m. tonight at Clearwater High School, 540 S. Hercules Ave. Admission is free. Call (727) 445-4142.

    LUNCH AND MUSIC: The Florida Lyric Opera will present a colorful Portuguese Folklore Society which will take you on a bird's-eye view of songs, dances and customs of the country. The performance will be at noon Saturday at the Westin Innisbrook Resort, 3650 U.S. 19 North, Palm Harbor. Admission is $20 and includes a three-course lunch. For information, call (727) 578-1657.

    CHILDREN'S EVENT: The classical music of Mozart, the style of French artist Matisse, and the world of puppets and shadow plays will merge in a multimedia event for children at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, south of East Bay Drive between Highland Avenue and Seminole Boulevard and adjacent to the Largo Library. "Mozart, Monsters and Matisse" is part of the Children's Series and Theatreworks USA. Children will experience a fanciful underwater tale called Little Blue, created in the style of Matisse. Reserved seating tickets are $7.50. A family four-pack can be purchased for $24. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are $6. Call (727) 587-6793.

    PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS: Award-winning acrylics and watercolors artist Kally Miaoulis Harvard will continue to exhibit her work through June 29 at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. There will be a reception to meet the artist from 1 to 4 p.m. June 22. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. Call (727) 942-5605.

    THEATER OPPORTUNITY DAY: The Clearwater City Players are collaborating with other Tampa Bay community theaters to create a program for the teens who want to know more about theater. Hands-on topics include backstage work, audition and dance skills, and costuming. Professionals who manage various aspects of theme parks will teach classes on working in the field and performance skills. The program will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Francis Wilson Playhouse, 302 Seminole St. Clearwater. This is for children 14 to 18. Cost is $10, including a box supper.     WATER GARDENING: Horticulturist Andy Wilson will conclude his three-part water gardening series with "Goin' Native: Aquatic Native Plants For Water Gardens and Aquascapes" at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Tropical Pavilion at the Florida Botanical Gardens, 12175 125th St. N, Largo. Topics will include the selection and use of Florida's different and attractive native aquatic plants in large and small water gardens. Admission is free. Call (727) 582-2124 to register.

    SIGN UNVEILING: The unveiling of signs designating stormwater ponds and interpretive educational signs describing plants, wildlife, and the function of the stormwater ponds will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the McKay Creek North bridge in the Florida Botanical Gardens, 12175 125th St., N, Largo. The project was funded in part by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Refreshments will be served under the tent.

    TALENT SHOW: Dancers, comedians, singers and musicians 5 and older are welcome to compete for cash prizes at the first Rising Stars Talent Competition at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Largo Community Center. Entry fees are $35 for individual contestants, $50 for groups of three or more. The judges will be Miss Largo 2002 and Miss Pinellas County 2002. Call (727) 585-2184 to register.

    MONTE CARLO NIGHT: Enjoy gaming tables, food from local restaurants, music, drawings and entertainment at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $50 and are available now at the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, 301 Main St., downtown Dunedin. Call (727) 733-3197.
