Dennis W. Zank has been named president of Raymond James & Associates Inc., the full-service brokerage firm owned by Raymond James Financial Inc. of St. Petersburg.

Zank, 47, joined Raymond James 24 years ago as an accountant and worked his way up through the ranks to executive vice president of operations and administration. He assumes his new position Oct. 1, replacing Thomas S. Franke, 60, who will become a consultant to the company.

It is the third major leadership transition at Raymond James this year. Chester "Chet" Helck was named president and chief operating officer of parent Raymond James Financial Services in February. He replaced Francis "Bo" Godbold. Last month Richard G. Averitt III was named chairman and CEO of Raymond James' independent contractor subsidiary, Raymond James Financial Services. He replaced M. Anthony Greene.

Zank has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of South Florida and an MBA degree from the University of Tampa. Raymond James & Associates employs about 1,000 financial advisers.
