Police reports
By Times staff writer Cause of infant's death still unknownNEW PORT RICHEY -- Pasco County sheriff's detectives still are investigating what caused the Thursday death of Kialynn Lovejoy, a 6-day-old infant. An autopsy performed Friday did not determine the cause of death. Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said the medical examiner will send out toxicology tests to check for disease, drugs, or other causes of death. Jacqueline Deskins, the infant's 22-year-old mother, woke up Thursday and found her baby blue and unresponsive, Deskins' stepmother Andrea Dziegielewski said. Paramedics called to the family's mobile home park at 8420 Blueberry Drive in New Port Richey pronounced the baby dead at about 11:30 a.m. The infant was blue and bleeding from the nose, reports said. Sheriff's spokesman Doll said a death investigation is routine whenever an infant or child dies. It will take about six weeks before toxicology tests are complete.
