Signings

Seminole cross-country runners Matt Morton and Jessica Simons have signed with Stetson.

Morton helped the Warhawks win PCAC titles the past two seasons and finish as runners-up at the state meet in 2000. Morton, who was selected to the Times all-county team in 2000 and 2001, also lettered in track.

Simons helped Seminole win conference and district titles the past four years and recorded a personal-best 20:30 in the 3-mile run.

Baseball

The Tampa Bay Renegades 9-and-under Amateur Athletic Union team finished third in the state in its division recently, qualifying the Renegades for this month's national championship in Orlando.

Chris Frey and Tyler Kellmann were the top hitters. Casey Turgeon, Zack Johnson, Eric Langevin and Sawyer Wilson handled the pitching.

Basketball

Countryside coach Randall Leath announced his team will play in the prestigious Holiday Prep Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., on Dec. 19-22.

The Prep Classic includes five tournaments involving 80 teams simultaneously. Countryside is expected to compete in the strongest of the five tournaments.

Last season, Leath took the Cougars to a tournament in New York, where they visited the World Trade Center site.
