17TH MINUTE: Landon Donovan turns around defender Thomas Linke, puts the ball through his legs but is stopped by diving goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, who just gets his fingertips on the ball.

30TH MINUTE: Donovan, off a pass from Claudio Reyna, comes in alone on Kahn, who gets his right hand on the shot.

37TH MINUTE: Donovan centers the ball to Brian McBride. McBride dribbles up the side and passes to Eddie Lewis, whose shot is saved by Kahn.

49TH MINUTE: Gregg Berhalter shoots from the 6-yard box after Reyna's corner kick. The ball bounces off Kahn, starts to cross the goal line but hits the left arm of defender Torsten Frings and bounces back to Kahn, who smothers it.

SECOND-HALF INJURY TIME: Tony Sanneh heads a Clint Mathis cross, but the ball hits the side of the net.
