ST. PETERSBURG -- A masked man robbed a downtown bank Thursday morning and fired a gunshot at a security camera, but no one was hurt, police said.

The robber struck about 10 a.m. at the AmSouth Bank at 260 First Ave. S. He approached a teller at the counter, ordered a customer out of the way, produced a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money. He shot at the camera as he ran toward a rear exit, police said.

The gunman got into an older model, four-door Nissan, gray or silver in color, that was in an alley behind the bank.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Karl Sauer at (727) 893-4093.
