Avis wants to share space with Verizon

CARROLLWOOD: Avis Rent-A-Car Systems wants county approval to operate a car rental facility out of a Verizon Wireless center on N Dale Mabry Highway, north of Lake Carroll Way.

Avis says it plans to locate its rental counter and administrative offices inside the 1,084-square-foot Verizon center. The company would also use 10 parking spaces in the Verizon parking lot for car rentals and employee parking. Avis would provide its customers with van service to and from the airport. Store hours would be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

ODESSA: Jon and Cathy Tileston want permission to relocate their Carrollwood law office to a duplex on Donna Lu Drive, east of Gunn Highway.

The Tilestons, who live on Donna Lu Drive, plan to combine an existing duplex with a third building for a total of 2,500 square feet of space to operate Tileston Property. They plan to add landscaping, a front porch, an open carport, a white fence and a circular driveway to the property.

Jon Tileston, who specializes in eminent domain law, filed a petition with the county in January seeking to move his 1,800-square-foot office at 4012 Gunn Highway into a 3,800-square-foot home on Cain Road in Citrus Park. Commissioners denied that request.

A zoning hearing officer is scheduled to hear the petition Sept. 17.(Petition 02-1045)

County commissioners approved the following petitions Tuesday:

UPPER TAMPA BAY: A 135-home subdivision will soon occupy 53 acres of undeveloped property off N River Road, north of Old Memorial Highway. Lot sizes will range from 4,500 square feet to 6,000 square feet. County staff also approved the plan. (Petition 02-0524)

LUTZ: DeBartolo Property Group won permission to build a two-story, 30,000-square-foot office building on 8.2 acres on Florida Avenue, north of Sinclair Hills Road. Zoning officials recommended approval of the development. (Petition 02-0427)

LUTZ: Commissioners approved a rezoning that will allow for 4,400 square feet of professional offices on 0.51 acres at the southeast corner of Florida Avenue and Sinclair Hills Road. The undeveloped property was previously zoned for agricultural uses. County staffers and zoning hearing master Andrew A. Baker endorsed the project. (Petition 02-0705)

KEYSTONE: Developers will be allowed to alter the architectural design requirements placed by the county on a 15,000-square-foot project previously approved for 5.25 acres at the northeast corner of Gunn Highway and Van Dyke Road. (Petition 02-0876)

Hearings of county zoning hearing masters and land use hearing officers, and land use meetings of the County Commission are held on the second floor of the County Center, 601 E Kennedy Blvd. Zoning hearings begin at 6 p.m., and commission meetings begin at 9 a.m. Both are televised on government access channels.
