Townhouse project is itself a conflict

Re: "Duplex builders file lawsuit to resolve zoning conflict," Sunday, June 16.

The builders claim it is unfair to punish them for the county's mistake. How about the unjust and inequitable treatment the citizens of this county have been receiving from the Hillsborough County Planning and Growth Management Department?

Like the Pinecrest apartment case in Jensen Beach noted in your article, the Citrus Park Townhouse project has been allowed to proceed despite being incompatible with the current Hillsborough County Land Use Plan, and with the surrounding single-family residential zoning.

Also, it was approved with an expired vested rights permit and without a zoning variance hearing, despite objections from the adjacent property owners.

I think the Department of Business and Professional Regulation should add this to its list of projects to investigate.
