Army Pfc. Ronald L. Waldo has graduated from the single channel radio operator course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga. He is the son of Susan Hielbrunn, and stepson of John Hielbrunn, both of Riverview.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Patrick E. Satterlee has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Patricia Satterlee, Valrico. Satterlee is a 1998 graduate of Durant High School and received an associate's degree in 2001 from Florida Metropolitan University, Tampa.

John W. Zdanwic IV has joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year. He is the son of Sally J. and John W. Zdanwic, Tampa. Zdanwic is a 2002 graduate of Wharton High School. He has reported to Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. for basic training.

Army Pfc. Steven P. Williams has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Carolyn Williams, Johnson City, Tenn., and Walter Williams, Brandon. Williams is a 1997 graduate of Science Hill High School, Johnson City, Tenn.

Army Sgt. Jose L. Zacarias has graduated from the unit supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. He is the son of Luis M. Zacarias, Tampa. He is a 1994 graduate of Papa Juan XXIII High School, Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and a 1990 graduate of Central University, Bayamon.

Army Pvt. Todd S. Mizis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Jan Mizis, Tampa.

Eric J. Cartagena has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. Cartagena is a protocol officer with the U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He is the son of Edward and Nayda I. Cartagena, Tampa. The captain is a 1992 graduate of Gaither High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of South Florida.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Seth L. Silverman has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Denise Craig, Tampa. Silverman is a 1994 graduate of Jesuit High School.

Jason M. Hackman has joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year. He is the son of Michael N. and Marcia N. Hackman, Tampa. Hackman is a 2001 graduate of Hillsborough Senior High School. He will report for basic training at Fort Sill, Okla.

Air Force Airman Kelly M. Kinney has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force. She is the daughter of Johnnie and Maryellen Kinney, Tampa. Kinney is a 1997 graduate of Robinson High School.

Ernesto Pandes has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after completing the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. ROTC is an educational program designed to provide college students an opportunity to be Air Force officers after completing military study courses and bachelor's degree requirements at a host college or university. He is the son of George and Asuncion Pandes, Brandon. Pandes is a 1998 graduate of Bloomingdale Senior High School.

Vivian Ryan has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after completing the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame.
