TEMPLE TERRACE -- Lightning and rain continued to be a sore spot Monday.

In District 13 action at Temple Terrace, five games were scheduled in the Major and Junior tournaments. But the weather forced the suspension of three games and the cancellation of the other two.

In Majors, Belmont Heights held a 5-0 lead in the second inning when its game with host Temple Terrace had to be suspended.

Aided by a two-run homer by Calvin Toombs, Belmont Heights took the lead with a five-run second before play was suspended. Belmont beat Antioch 3-0 to advance to play Temple Terrace, but it took the two teams three tries before they could complete the game.

In another Majors game, East Point used a four-run first inning to take a 4-1 lead against New Tampa before play was halted in the third inning. That game will also be resumed today. But, due to the rain delays, the 8 p.m. elimination game between Antioch and Lutz was pushed back to tonight at 8.

In Juniors action at Temple Terrace, Belmont Heights trailed Antioch 11-4 after 21/2 innings. Antioch struck with four in the top of the first, but Belmont answered with three runs in the bottom half. The winner advances to meet the New Tampa-Land O'Lakes loser.
