MAITLAND -- Masked gunmen attacked three people outside the home of Magic point guard Troy Hudson, fatally shooting a 20-year-old man and pistol-whipping a 15-year-old boy, police said Monday.
Hudson wasn't home late Sunday when a car pulled into his driveway, two men got out and opened fire, according to police in this wealthy Orlando suburb.
Three other people who did not live at the house were standing outside.
It was the second time in three days the home was targeted, said Bill Neff, Hudson's agent. He said robbers broke into the home Friday, taking several hundred dollars and attacking some guests after being unable to find Hudson's car keys.
Hudson wasn't home then, either. He has refused to return after the first robbery and was staying elsewhere in the Orlando area when Sunday's shooting occurred.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Hudson had moved out after the robbery.
Neff thinks the same suspects were involved.
"They came back when they couldn't get the car keys and shot people," Neff said.
The dead man was identified as Carrick Reid, 20, of Orlando. The 15-year-old wasn't identified by authorities.
A third person, Cleveland Fields, 27, of Maitland, escaped through a rear window, police said. Two people inside the house were not injured.
"I have no clue. I don't know what's happening here," Hudson told the Sentinel, which reported that Hudson hadn't talked to police as of Monday afternoon. "I think I'm a robbery target."
Neff said Reid was Hudson's friend, as is Fields and the teen.
Police spokesman Lt. Gary Calhoun said detectives didn't immediately have any suspects, though investigators found a stolen Jeep Cherokee believed to have been driven by the suspects less than half a mile from Hudson's home.
Neff said he didn't think the robbers knew it was Hudson's home, which is in a neighborhood near the RDV Complex, where the Magic practices.
"It's a random-enough act from the sound of it," Neff said. "They didn't know it was Troy's house they were trying to get."
In a statement released by the Magic, Hudson expressed grief for Reid's family.
"I am saddened and stunned by his untimely death," Hudson said.
