Man accused of trying to fondle 15-year-old

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 55-year-old man was arrested Friday after a 15-year-old girl said he tried to fondle her and bought her four sex aids, Pasco County sheriff's deputies said.

Victor C. Rohm of 5821 Thrush Drive in New Port Richey faces charges of lewd and lascivious molestation and distribution of obscene material, deputies said.

The girl told deputies the man touched her and tried to fondle her on May 26 as she was getting out of his vehicle, according to a deputy report.

Rohm was released Friday after posting $15,000 bond.

Man on revoked bond tries to kill himself in jail

LAND O'LAKES -- A 43-year-old man who was booked into the county jail on Friday tried to kill himself Saturday morning, Pasco County sheriff's officials said.

Richard Paey, who suffers from several medical conditions, sharpened the medallion on his Medic-Alert necklace and used it to cut his throat and left wrist, they said. Paey of Hudson was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where he was being evaluated Saturday afternoon.

Paey's bond was revoked and he was sent back to jail on Friday. He faces a litany of drug charges, including trafficking in opium and trafficking in a controlled substance, sheriff's spokesman Jon Powers said.

Paey, who is a paraplegic, was in a single cell in the jail's medical wing. Inmates there are checked every 15 minutes, Powers said.

At 9:10 a.m., Paey was fine, Powers said.

At 9:20 a.m. when employees were delivering medications, they found him bleeding from his neck and wrist.
