Keystone finally gets game with Palma Ceia

Skyway's scheduled opponent, Northwest, was thrust into a matchup with Keystone, which it lost 10-5.

Keystone was originally scheduled to face host Palma Ceia, but it received a bye with the All-Stars tournament now standing at seven teams.

With Keystone's victory Saturday, it gets its shot at Palma Ceia while Northwest drops into the losers bracket.

In other Senior action, Citrus Park bypassed West Tampa 11-1 and moves on to play Interbay, a 5-3 winner against the Yellow Jackets. West Tampa and the Yellow Jackets now must play an elimination game. JUNIOR BASEBALL: Northside defeated Interbay 6-2 at Citrus Park, setting up a game against Citrus Park today. The winner of that contest will face West Tampa, which got past Palma Ceia/Bayshore 6-5. The combined team of Palma Ceia and Bayshore plays Interbay in an elimination game at 3:30 today.

In the other half of that bracket, the Yellow Jackets doubled up Tampa Bay 8-4, assuring a matchup with host Keystone today. Northwest, a 16-11 winner against Skyway Park, awaits the winner of that pairing.

MAJOR BASEBALL: At Keystone in the first day of play in Field B, Palma Ceia and Interbay won. Palma Ceia's 5-1 triumph against Northwest advances it into a winners bracket clash with the host team. Meanwhile, Interbay rests and awaits the winner of Palma Ceia and Keystone for a game at 6 p.m. on Monday.

In Field A of the Majors, also hosted by Keystone, Tampa Bay's 14-0 win over Skyway Park advanced it to a confrontation with Bayshore today.

In the other winners bracket game, Citrus Park, which conquered the Yellow Jackets 5-2, takes on West Tampa.

JUNIOR SOFTBALL: In the three-team tournament, Tampa Bay shut out Northside 12-0 to advance to meet host Citrus Park. The loser of that game gets an engagement with Northside on Monday.

MAJOR SOFTBALL: At Northside, offense was the theme of the day as Citrus Park/Keystone scored 18 in its victory and Tampa Bay scored 15 in its victory against Bayshore/Interbay/Palma Ceia. Tampa Bay gets Northside today with Citrus Park/Keystone waiting in the wings Monday.
