Crucial games must wait in 3 divisions

Friday's rain halted play in District 6, forcing all the baseball games to be canceled. Three games were on tap, one each in the Major, Junior and Senior divisions.

Those games will be made up today at 10 a.m.

At Keystone, Bayshore and Palma Ceia will kick off their best-of-three series for the Major title. Palma Ceia skimmed through Field B after winning its last three games by one run, including a 3-2 victory against host Keystone in the second round. The score was 3-2 again when Palma Ceia eliminated Keystone in the Field B final Wednesday.

Bayshore defeated Tampa Bay twice to complete a clean run through Field A.

In Senior baseball, Palma Ceia will finally get its chance to win the district title if it can get past Interbay. Palma Ceia hasn't played since Tuesday when it used a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th to beat Citrus Park 4-3.

Interbay has one loss and must defeat Palma Ceia twice to claim the crown.

In Junior baseball, the Yellow Jackets will try to continue their improbable run to a title with an elimination game against Northwest. The Yellow Jackets beat Northwest 22-2 on Thursday, but since the team had to forfeit an earlier game, the Yellow Jackets must beat Northwest again today to get a shot at Citrus Park in the final.

Citrus Park is yet to lose, meaning either the Yellow Jackets or Northwest will have to knock it off twice.

District 6 has already crowned its softball champions.

Tampa Bay outscored the other two teams in the Junior tournament 36-1 en route to its championship. Citrus Park/Keystone was even more dominant in the Major division, outscoring its three opponents by 40 runs.
