ST. PETERSBURG -- A 21-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested and charged with setting a stolen vehicle on fire.
Detectives said they believe the arrest of Malcolm Glen on Thursday will lead to other suspects involved in 30 vehicle fires since June 17.
Glen, who police said lives at 720 40th St. S, is the first person charged in the fires. Police say he burned a 1992 GMC pickup at 4544 14th Ave. S on Tuesday, and that he also stole a 1991 Plymouth Voyager that day.
Many of the arsons involved older-model Dodge Caravans stolen in west and northwest St. Petersburg and set afire and left in southwest St. Petersburg.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jeff Manning at (727) 892-5092.
