Five members of a Clearwater family were injured Saturday in a Polk County automobile accident that killed two people in another vehicle.

The accident took place about 10:40 a.m. on Interstate 4 near U.S. 27.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an eastbound Toyota on Interstate 4 slid through the median and into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Jeep carrying Michael Lloyd, 29; Michelle Luna, 28; Dillon Luna, 10; Christian Luna, 8; and Samantha Lloyd, 2. They all live on Verona Avenue in Clearwater.

All five Clearwater residents were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Michelle Luna was admitted to the hospital in stable condition, and the other four were treated and released.

Two people in the Toyota were killed in the crash, and a third person was critically injured. Their names were not available Saturday, and it was not immediately clear where they were from.
