Basketball

Pasco coach Poncho Broner is hosting an end of summer basketball and barbecue gathering at Pasco High's gymnasium from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The consolation and championship games from the Dade City Pee-wee league will be played at 4 and 5. An alumni game will be played at 6, pitting the current Pasco varsity team against a team of former Pirate greats.

The games are free and a concession stand will offer hamburgers and hot dogs, with all proceeds benefitting the Pasco basketball program.

An adult recreation league will be held at the Pasco Parks and Recreation Complex for players age 30-and-over. Games are 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Holiday Recreation Complex. For information, call (727) 934-4198 or (727) 942-7439.

Football

The Wesley Chapel Summer Football Tough Guy Camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 27 at Wildcat Stadium for youth age 5-12. The fee is $35. The camp includes conditioning and technique instruction as well as individual and team competitions. For information, call (727) 845-4678 or (727) 514-6901.

The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition will be at the Holiday Recreation Complex at 10 a.m. Aug. 24. Participation is free for youth age 8-15. For information, call (727) 934-4198 or (727) 942-7493.

Volleyball

The Hudson camp will be held July 30-Aug. 2 at the school's gym. The schedule will be: practice skills from 9 a.m. to noon, a 30-minute lunch break then games from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee is $70 per player and includes a T-shirt.

The camp is open to youth age 10-18 who must register by July 30.

The Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex will hold free open gyms 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays for players age 16-and-over. For information, call (813) 929-1220.

Golf

Meadow Oaks Junior camp dates are Monday and July 29 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for students age 8-17. The daily fee is $9. The camp will address the basics, the full swing, the short game, rules and etiquette. Clubs are available. For information, call the Meadow Oaks pro shop at (727) 856-2878.

Running

The Land O'Lakes Athletic Club is hosting an all-comers track and cross-country meet Aug. 10 at Gator Stadium. For information, contact Kris Keppel at (813) 996-2824.

The Suncoast Striders Running and Walking Club has been formed at the James P. Gills YMCA. Sessions are 7 a.m. Saturdays. For information, call (727) 375-9622.

Weightlifting

The East Pasco YMCA has a youth club available for those age 13-18. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays until July 30. Morning sessions are 10 to 11 a.m. and evening sessions are 7 to 8 p.m. The club is free for YMCA members and $32 for nonmembers. For information, call (813) 780-9622.
