DETROIT -- Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman will have surgery on his right knee next month and will miss at least the first two months of the season.

Yzerman, 37, who led the team in scoring in the playoffs, will have the bones in the knee realigned to reduce pressure, the team said.

PENGUINS: Defenseman Marc Bergevin signed.

PREDATORS: Defenseman Cale Hulse re-signed.

RANGERS: Defenseman Vladimir Chebaturkin signed.

THRASHERS: Forwards Pascal Rheaume and Brad Tapper and defenseman Mike Weaver re-signed.

TRADE: Florida got Dmitry Yushkevich from Toronto for Robert Svehla. Svehla, who had announced his retirement after last season, signed a one-year contract.

CEO to co-own local team

Atlantic Coast Hockey League CEO Bill Coffey formed a partnership with Orlando Seals managing general partner Jeff Brubaker and purchased the franchise the league plans to place in St. Petersburg this fall.

Coffey, who also controls part of the proposed Tallahassee franchise, owned parts of several teams when he helped form the East Coast Hockey League in 1988-89. Coffey said he expects final approval of Florida Sports Ventures lease with the Bayfront Center next week.
