Three Little League baseball teams remain in each division heading into this weekend's Section 7 tournament at Interbay. By sundown Tuesday, only one team from each division will remain. In Major baseball, Northeast of District 5 breezed through the All-Stars tournament, winning in three games.
Palm Harbor American of District 12 enters the tournament as the hottest team, riding a seven-game winning streak. It won its final three games in sudden death.
Bayshore went undefeated in the District 6 tournament and won a doubleheader Sunday to advance.
The Junior division will feature two teams that took different roads to win their All-Star tournaments.
Dunedin American of District 12 scored 63 runs in six games and allowed just nine.
Northeast clawed all the way back to win the District 5 tournament after an early loss. Northeast fought off elimination twice against Cross Bayou to reach the Sectional tournament.
Citrus Park will represent District 6.
Due to rain last week, Dunedin American and Northeast did not claim their All-Stars championships until early this week.
Any team hoping to advance to the Senior state tournament will have to knock off the defending World Series champions from Palm Harbor. To make matters worse, Palm Harbor got stronger with each game in the District 12 tournament.
Palm Harbor scored at least 10 runs in its final three games, and allowed only four runs.
Pinellas Park National's strong pitching staff will likely provide a challenge for Palm Harbor. Pinellas Park National swept the District 5 tournament in three games.
Palma Ciea will represent District 6.
