The California criminal trial of Pasco-Pinellas Circuit Judge Charles W. Cope has been delayed until the end of September as lawyers deal with pretrial motions in the case, said Lisa Poll, a Monterey County deputy district attorney.
Cope was charged with five misdemeanors: battery, prowling, peering into an inhabited dwelling, petty theft and aggravated trespassing.
Police said Cope had been drinking while in Carmel, Calif., in April 2001, to attend a judicial conference. He is accused of trying to get into the hotel room of two women he had met there and trying repeatedly to kiss one of the women during a walk on the beach.
