Second man killed on U.S. 19 in a week

PORT RICHEY -- For the second time in a week, an 18-year-old was killed while riding a bicycle on U.S. 19, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Matthew M. Pastore, a landscaper from New Port Richey, was hit and killed at 9:46 p.m. Monday just north of Ridge Road, troopers said.

He was riding south in the northbound lane.

A Clearwater man driving a 1998 Ford van hit him head on. A week ago, Robert Green, 18, of New Port Richey was killed on his bike crossing U.S. 19 in Holiday.
