1. 13 Conversations About One Thing -- The subject is happiness, an elusive feeling for an ensemble of urbanites whose lives intersect at telling moments. The stellar cast includes Matthew McConaughey, John Turturro, Clea DuVall and the inestimable Alan Arkin.
2. Road to Perdition -- Tom Hanks isn't convincing as a 1930s mob assassin, but the American Beauty team of director Sam Mendes and cinematographer Conrad Hall creates a moody underworld that's tough to shake.
3. The Country Bears -- A bear of constant sorrow (voice of Haley Joel Osment) reunites his favorite bluegrass-rock band in a surprisingly limber musical-comedy for all ages.
4. Stuart Little 2 -- Lively sight gags and spirited voiceovers by Michael J. Fox, Melanie Griffith and James Woods turn this sequel about an adopted talking mouse into a worthwhile family treat.
5. Austin Powers in Goldmember -- The mojo's getting a bit stale, but fans of the shagadelic super spy have another chapter to watch over and over again.
