Pops concert to benefit cultural centerBy Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published July 26, 2002 CROSS CREEK -- The second performance of Pops in the Palms will debut indoors after a rainy outdoor premiere last month. The concert will be Saturday at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 9724 Cross Creek Blvd. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 8. A selection of the "Best of Broadway" will be performed by the Mostly Pops Orchestra and conductor Robert Romanski. There is a $10 suggested donation. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.newtampaculturalcenter.org. Proceeds will benefit the New Tampa Cultural Center, an organization still searching for a site. "These pops events, I think, are helping to establish us pretty well," said Graeme Woodbrook, president of the cultural center. "We're looking for a big turnout," he said, adding that tickets also will be available at the door. Seating capacity is 850. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
