TAMPA -- The man who kidnapped a Carrollwood teenager and then shot and killed himself Thursday had a juvenile record and was a suspect in two recent sexual battery cases, authorities said.

Friday afternoon, authorities released a 1995 photo of Steven Allen Williams and more information on him.

Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin said Williams, 22, was a suspect in two sexual battery cases in North Tampa. Detectives were looking for Williams before Thursday's incident, Durkin said.

"He became a suspect days ago," Durkin said. "We were in the process of trying to track him down."

The cases are still under investigation, Durkin said, and he would not reveal more details.

Williams was charged by Tampa police with aggravated assault with a firearm in 1995, when he was 15.
