NEW ORLEANS -- Saints starting quarterback Aaron Brooks did not report to training camp.

"Yes, I am surprised," general manager Mickey Loomis said Saturday. "We haven't heard from him, and we don't know why he isn't here. No one's talked to him."

Loomis said he assumed Brooks' failure to report Friday night was a contract holdout, but neither Brooks nor his agent has contacted the Saints or responded to calls from the team.

Brooks is in the final year of his contract, making the league minimum of $400,000. The Saints have made an offer to Brooks and received a counteroffer from Brooks' agent, Andre Colona.

Loomis refused to discuss what the Saints offered Brooks. Colona did not return phone calls to his office.

BROWNS: First-round draft pick William Green agreed to contract terms. Terms weren't disclosed but ESPN.com reported the deal is worth $7.85-million.

BILLS: Offensive tackle Mike Williams, the team's top pick out of Texas, signed.

JETS: Free-agent receiver Mike Furrey signed and first-year receiver Jonathan Pittman was waived.

EAGLES: Injured running back Correll Buckhalter (ACL) was put on the physically unable to perform/active list. Also, defensive end Daryl Whittington signed a one-year contract.

LIONS: Defensive tackle Bill Duff and running back Jonas Lewis signed.
