Smoke by TIA will be from fire practice

TAMPA -- As part of routine training exercises, firefighters will extinguish fuel fires at Tampa International Airport today through Wednesday.

The drills will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. The Federal Aviation Administration requires fire departments to practice putting out fuel fires in case of emergencies.

Residents and commuters near TIA may see smoke coming from the north area of the airport, fire officials said.
