INVERNESS -- Citrus County sheriff's deputies netted more than 140 pieces of crack cocaine Thursday during a sting operation at the Florida Motel.

The drugs were valued at about $2,800, said Ronda Hemminger Evan, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

The drugs were seized after a controlled drug buy made by an informer. The informer went to Room 18 of the motel, 1301 N U.S. 41, and purchased $60 worth of crack from Jason Corbin, 22, of Wildwood, according to an arrest report.

The transaction was videotaped by a member of the Sheriff's Office. Once the informer had left, Detective Dave Vincent arrested Corbin.

Corbin was booked on charges of possession of cocaine and possession with intent to sell. He was taken to the Citrus County jail, where he was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Investigators then obtained a search warrant for Corbin's hotel room.

They found a plastic bag filled with crack cocaine as well as pieces of drug paraphernalia and some money, according to Evan.
